Right: Branch member Mildred DeWitt presents a check for $500 to cover the cost of preparing the print "The Promenade Deck" for the Ken Lindsey Study Room.

Diane Butler, Director of Binghamton University Art Museum, was the Keynote speaker at the AAUW Southern New York Branch Open House,   Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at 7:00 P.M. in the Vestal Library.  Ms. Butler discussed the work of 20th Century graphic artist Peggy Bacon whose drypoint print "The Promenade Deck" is part of Binghamton University's permanent collection, and Southern New York Branch has "adopted" this print.   The five-hundred dollars will be used to defray the cost of preparing one of fifty works on paper to be made available for study by students, faculty, and the public.

As a sponsor making a $500 donation, Southern New York Branch made it possible for one of 50 outstanding works of art "The Promenade Deck" by Peggy Bacon to be housed on acid-free matboard, placed in an achival Solander box with several other works, and displayed on new shelving in the vault adjacent to the Kenneth C. Lindsay Study Room.
