Jerry and Sue McLain at Juneau

From Juneau we flew down the Gastineau Channel, around Bishop Point, up the Taku Inlet, and landed on the Norris Glacier.
Glaciers are rivers of ice, carving U-shaped valleys in the rock as they move down to the sea.  Dark lines known as medial moraines are formed when rocks and debris scoured from the valley walls are pushed into the center of the glacier. Dark debris lines on the sides are known as lateral moraines.

Above:  Through the right windscreen, you can see the medial moraine      of the Taku Glacier.
